The Gospel is Great News

The message of Jesus Christ is incredible news for all mankind. We know God sent his one and only son to die on the cross, paying the price for all of mankind’s sin. The opportunity to believe this message, turn from our wicked ways and confess Jesus as Lord and savour is available for all. This is a beautiful message. Here is what the bible says about those who take this message out. They have beautiful feet, because the message is beautiful. Remember it is only good news to those who hear it.

Romans 10:15

And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!

Great Command

Matthew 28:18-20

Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely, I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

To make a disciple we must first be a disciple of Christ. We help people become like Christ, then they follow our example of faith and in turn disciple another. A disciple is simply someone who follows Jesus as his disciple. There is a three-way transaction always going on - between Christ, us and others. We are continually investing and receiving.

Harvest is Ready

Matthew 9:37-38

Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. 38 Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.”

What are these fields Jesus is talking about? What is it that’s ripe? Who are the workers in the fields? In Jesus’ illustration, the fields are the world. The ripe grain is those who are ready to receive the good news of Jesus Christ. Jesus is telling us that there are plenty of people whose hearts the Spirit of God has “ripened.” They are ready to enter the life of Jesus’ kingdom or eager to learn more about it. A “bumper crop” is due, but there’s a labour shortage.

We believe God has empowered every believer to preach the gospel and to be his witness. As a church we consider this to be high priority, and we are passionate about fulfilling this command until Christ’s return.

Acts 1:8
