Objective:
Encourage everyone in the group to realise how amazing and powerful their life is. How unique, special and lifegiving they are when they carry and speak the gospel of Jesus.
Leaders Note:
Encourage everyone to allow God by his Spirit to reveal Jesus a fresh. And so doing ignite a fresh desire to see people encounter Jesus and the love of the Father. The aim is to see Jesus become so alive in us; it simply cannot be contained. A heart response, rather than rigid obligation.
Please choose what best suits your group and fit time well. Have fun Jesus People!
Discussion Time
Romans 10:15 'And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!'
Question and Discuss
Why is the bible describing feet as beautiful?
(Leader – Have some fun describing feet. Perhaps not all feet are beautiful)
Feet are not often described as being beautiful
They come in all sorts of sizes and condition
Always makes me laugh when you see people walking on the hot sand at the beach.
Answer
We can all have beautiful feet
Let’s explore why and the very simple meaning behind this.
Firstly, the message we have is Good News
The word “Gospel” itself comes from a Greek word 'euangelion', which literally means “good news.” In the New Testament, it refers to the announcement that Jesus has brought the reign of God (The Father) to our world through his life, death, and resurrection from the dead.
Romans 10:12-15
For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile—the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, 13 for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” 14 How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? 15 And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!”
Discussion and apply to life from below
Four major points in this text
1/ Hearer - There must be a hearing of the message. Find someone to listen!
2/ Believe - A believing of the message that has been proclaimed. A receiving!
3/ Sent - A preacher must be sent from God. (leader: Discuss how we are all sent)
4/ Proclaimed - A proclamation of the message must go out.
Literally a mouth must be opened with the good news message. Speak
Question
What is the message?
Take some time to discuss what the Gospel message is.
Christ Crucified - Christ resurrected
A slave to sin – Total Forgiveness
Hopeless - Hope for the future
Death - New Life
Old life – New Creation
Broken – Made Whole
Washed – Seated with Christ in heavenly places
Addiction – Freedom
Keep adding to the list……….
Separated from the Father – Eternity with the Father
Verse 12-13 For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile—the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
Question
What must people do to be saved?
And Who can be saved?
Discuss
Simple process to salvation.
Romans 10:9 “Confess with your mouth” “Believe in your Heart”
It is ridiculously simple
Application
How shall they hear? YOU and I
And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?
How will they know? YOU and I
And how can anyone preach unless they are sent?
Verse 14-15 How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!”
He chooses YOU - those who bring good news!”
Leader – Take time to encourage each other, pray and ask the Holy Spirit to release a fresh heart and a fire for the lost.
Challenge
Our feet are only beautiful when we are moving and speaking the message of good news.
