Know your limitations
It is strongly suggested you do not mentor the opposite sex. Be wise in who you choose to mentor. If an older person is mentoring a younger person, think about where you choose to spend time. For example: Meet in a public place. You do not have to mentor everyone that asks you.
Important: If the person you are mentoring shares things that endanger their life or someone else’s life you should inform someone else in authority immediately. Remember unless you are a trained counsellor don’t counsel beyond your experience.
The Mentoring CHALLENGE
We are all disciples. We should be a disciple of Christ and a disciple of another. The challenge here is to encourage them to disciple someone else.
He who walks with wise men will be wise, But the companion of fools will be destroyed. Proverbs 13:20
Listen to counsel and receive instruction, that you may be wise in your latter days. Proverbs 19:20
A disciple is not above his teacher, but everyone who is perfectly trained will be like his teacher. Luke 6:40
“A mentor is someone who sees more talent and ability within you, than you see in yourself, and helps bring it out of you.” — Bob Proctor
