WHO WE ARE

citywestchurch is a Pentecostal church in New Plymouth

committed to reach people for Christ, and to build and release them to

multiply this process.

Our history in this city dates back to the mid 1920s. Although this church body has endured many generations, we continue to see God change lives as we reach out to this community and beyond. For many years we were known as the New Plymouth Assembly of God church, however, the name of the church was rebranded as citywestchurch in 2006. We remain privileged to be active members of the Assemblies of God in New Zealand.

WHAT WE BELIEVE

citywestchurch is a church that is a part of the Assemblies of God in New Zealand movement.
Interest in Pentecostal Christianity in New Zealand was evident before World War I, but it was the visits of evangelist Smith Wigglesworth to New Zealand between 1922 and 1924 that launched the Pentecostal Movement in this country. The Assemblies of God in New Zealand was formed following a meeting in Wellington on 29 March 1927. The New Plymouth Assembly of God, now citywestchurch, was founded not long after that meeting.
